Add Tips and Transportation. The "Travel" tab is not only for rideshare, but for buses, planes, trains, hitchhiking tips, boats and more. Anyone, including you, can add to this. So if you found a super cheap bus that goes from NYC to Boston, you can add this to "Transit" section under "Travel" for the next person to discover. In the "hitchhike" section you can link to hitchhiking stories and tag them with a certain location. From the map, you can zoom into an exact on ramp or another spot you hitchhiked from and right click to add it for all to see, including your rating and a short description. Adding tips here is a huge part of how Trip Hopping will grow in usefulness.
Spread the word! If you have a traveling friend, tell them about Trip Hopping, you may have done this already. The more people who know about the site, the more rides that are posted and the more people will connect and get to where they're going while possibly making new friends in the process. If you really wanna go for it, post flyers at your school or neighborhood coffee shops, seek out online communities where travelers (or would be travelers) will benefit from discovering Trip Hopping.
Talkback to us. You may have noticed the "Talkback" link in the top right corner of the page. This is how you can alert us of any bugs or quirks you may have found in the site, or even suggest a feature you'd like to see. It's incredibly important to hear what you have to say, we're in this together to make the site all it can be.
Web Developers. Of course if you're really interested in joining the development team deeply, you'll have to fill out the volunteer form and work with us directly to access all of our code, but there are still ways to help. For example, take a look at our primary javascript file, think you can optimize a function or otherwise make things more efficient? Take a stab at it and send us your results, ask us about it, let's make things better. We do plenty with the Google Maps API, so if you have an idea or an addition you'd like to see on the mapping side of things, code it and submit it and we may just plug it in to the functionality of the site.
Designers. Do you see an icon or graphic on our site that looks cheesy or rough around the edges, think you can do better? Show us! Send us something cool looking and we'd love to switch things around. Also, the scenic view at the top of the page with Ace (the kangaroo) is ever changing, if you want to make your own background type picture with Ace hanging out, that's awesome! The banners are 1200 x 120.
Get verified and/or donate. So far Trip Hopping is being paid for out of pocket, and our expenses are going up. Getting verified is a not only a great way to give other members a sense that you're real person, and one who cares about Trip Hopping, but it's also an important donation and investment into the site that keeps our servers up and running along with everything else.
